16th Note Permutation Studies (4 Note Groupings) By Kevin Picone |
Here's a series of 16th note permutation lessons. This is a fairly heavy study, that requires a lot of work from you. The idea behind it is simple enough, we're going to look at how permutations can be used to created patterns (fills & grooves). These permutations are based on the following 5 common 16th note stickings, which are "RLRL", "RLR-", "R-RL", "RL-L" & "-RLR". These may appear to be easy patterns, they and are all too often neglected by players, new and old.. With just these idea's, we can create so many fun and useful grooves and fills, so there worth spending some serious time on. This will take quite a while to work completely through. Learning all the permutations isn't really the objective here, cleaning up fundamental patterns is.. Not too mention, finding ways to get better value from these old ideas too. Try them out, don't be afraid to experiment. If you would like to submit your own lesson please feel free to contact me. |
